This Sunday the practise shoot was at Doddershall, the forecast rain keeping at least one member away. The main rain held off until the tea break, and then the cold wet conditions set in.

The Roger Phillips Trophy shoot was held at the Drayton Parslow shooting ground on Sunday 27th December. The shoot was a hundred bird shoot over 12 stands, with a handicap shoot. The day was damp with light rain, but incredibly warm for a December. No wind to affect the flight of the clays.
The handicap was worked out thus. Before we started the shoot, 6 stands were picked randomly, the scores for these stands were then added up. The person with the highest score over the six stands (Helena 43) was then used as the scratch score. So everyone below this score would then receive a handicap.
The handicap was won by Wally.
The final overall scores out of 100 before the handicap was applied are as follows
Helena. 86
Andy. 82
Mark H. 78
Mark. C 77

Practice shoot at Quainton, the last before Christmas, at last the ground has started to become wet, so much more person handling of the traps. Rather late start to the shoot, the batteries had been forgotten. Thanks to Andy for bringing some Christmas cheer.

This Sundays practice shoot was held at our Doddershall shooting ground. Dry, warm but windy day. Andy’s teal (not Adrian’s) when first set up was, shoot or be hit. Minor adjustment for the wind was made.

Our next shoot is the Winter League hosted by the Crown, then a practice shoot followed by the Roger Phillips Trophy at Drayton Parslow on the 27th December.
Do not forget the Christmas sale at D&B Guns from the 11th – 13th December.
The Fred Dymock Memorial shoot was a 100 bird shoot held at Common Leys Shooting ground, Worminghall. We started the day with a bacon roll and then attempted the shoot. The results will be posted here when I receive them. The shoot is a handicap shoot and was won by Dawn and Helena.
The shoot was at Doddershall in far warmer conditions than the last club practice, and no wind as well. This made for an enjoyable shoot. I see Brian and Mark are shooting consistently, Brian with his third 38 score this year and Mark with his second 41 score.
One small issue, if the coffee mugs get larger, or more people come to shoot we will need more hot water. 🙂
Our next shoot is 1st March at Quainton.

The 3rd round shoot was held at Akeley in reasonable conditions, sun shone, and the wind was not at all strong. It was though wet underfoot and a few shooters had difficulties extracting their cars from the field. The two Steves having to receive a little shove to get up onto the road. Kingswood managed a fifth position, we did though have two ladies contributing to our overall result. Well done Jenny for winning High Lady.
The over all results club qualifiers where:
Paul (42), Mark (39), Brian (36) Steve C (34) Jenny(34) Jim (30) Adrian (29) Helena (28)
Some pictures from the shoot, Thanks Helena
Despite threats of Arctic vortice, snow and general threatening weather, I reckon we got of quite lightly. Yes it was 3C, and the wind was blowing and it was definitely a touch on the chilly side. There did seem to be an excessive amount of sheltering behind horse boxes and vans while waiting to shoot.
Seems today was a rabbit practice day, One stand with a rabbit, and a crosser, then we even had a pair of rabbits crossing, one leisurely rabbit crossing from right to left, and then a small spirited rabbit running the other way.
Our next shoot is the SSL at Akely on Sunday 8th. See you all there.
