Practice Shoot at Doddershall 3rd December 2023

The Kingswood clay shoot returned to Doddershall following a hiatus since October 1st due to unsuitable ground conditions caused by rain. Despite today’s shoot encountering less-than-ideal weather with intermittent drizzle, it efficiently proceeded, discouraging any delays. Notably, the traps necessitated manual positioning and were wheeled back to their trailers post-event. Gratitude is extended to all individuals who contributed to the cleanup efforts following the shoot.

After the many wet days, this Sundays shoot was transferred from Doddershall to Ludgershall where the ground conditions were better. Despite the previous week of rain, today remained bright and sunny and we all had an enjoyable shoot.

It was another splendid day for our shooting event, and the recent rain hadn’t left the ground soggy. I’m truly delighted to be in the company of all of you today. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Shirley, Wally, Tod, and John for their invaluable assistance in setting up, and to Ann for her wonderful contributions with teas, coffee, and that scrumptious cake.

I’d like to offer my apologies for the clays that disappeared into the sunlight, making them difficult to track. I’m certain this may have impacted a few scores, but it seems that it didn’t deter the spirits of some of our sharpshooters.

Great to see you all today, thank you Shirley, Wally, Tod and John for helping to set up and to Anne for doing the teas/coffee and for the cake which was delicious! Weather was still a short and T-shirt day, despit it being October.

Thank you all for coming to the annual Kingswood shoot and BBQ, we had super weather and I think everyone enjoyed the fun additions of the air gun shooting and flurry.  A big thank you to all the helpers who made the day a great success.

Practice Shoot at Ludgershall 20th August 2023

Tod and Simon set up the clay pigeon shooting this morning. They used the club’s equipment setting up fewer stands than we normally have. There were four stands, each with a dozen targets. The fourth stand had fourteen targets, which was a challenge for the shooters.

The usual dynamic duo, Dawn and Brian, could not attend as they were hosting a charity shoot. This meant that there were fewer people at the club event than usual. Some preferring the charity shoot and other also watching the women’s football world cup final.

The English ladies had a disappointing result in the final, losing to Spain. Despite this, everyone enjoyed their time at our clay pigeon shooting event and the charity shoot.

The Ludgershall site had been closed for a while, growing grass for fodder, but it was reopened for this event. The grass had been cut and the land had been prepared.

Overall, it was a successful event. The shooters enjoyed themselves and the charity shoot raised a lot of money.

A blustery day produced some interesting targets. No two targets were the same because the clay targets were being blown in all directions. Thankfully the rain held off and we had an enjoyable shoot. I have included an image of the ground we shoot at from a drone shot I found on YouTube. The producer of the video has several hours of drone footage of the HS2 construction.
