Practice Shoot at Quainton 19th January

Kingswood Gun Club Posted on 19th January 2020 by shooter20th January 2020

Lovely bright sunny and frosty morning brought out over 40 members and guests for the shoot. The cold weather did reduce the power of the radio transmitters, causing some technical issues. Stand four was demanding. The number of pickups on that stand was a testament to birds that got away.

Practice Shoot Ludgershall 5th January

Kingswood Gun Club Posted on 7th January 2020 by shooter29th March 2020

The practice shoot was held at Ludgershall. Wet ground conditions meant parking on the road. No rain and a gentle breeze. Some of the clay targets were quite demanding.

The Fred Dymock Trophy Clay shoot in Buckinghamshire

Fred Dymock Trophy Shoot

Kingswood Gun Club Posted on 29th December 2019 by shooter31st December 2019

After the weeks of rain, it was decided not to allow unnecessary vehicles on the shooting field. Instead, we would meet at Ludgershall village hall and be transported to the field by a vintage tractor (1980 Fiat) and trailer. Two trips were required. We can thank Jim for arranging this mode of transport. It was a fun start and end to the shoot.

Awaiting us at the shooting ground we had five stands of ten birds each. These were beautifully set up by Brian and his team, along with festive Christmas names. This was also the first outing of new safety cages, strong and light. As you can see from the picture, the field was truly waterlogged. Despite the cloud, there was no rain to spoil the fun. The breeze did add a chill to the air, 8C feels like 5C.

Wet Wet Wet

After the tea and coffee break, (please remember to bring your mug), we had a flurry shoot. Teams of three were randomly picked and shot the flurry. Deceptively slow at first, putting you at ease, until two fast, demanding flurries at the end. The final two stands of the fifty bird shoot then completed the shoot. In all 36 members and friends shot.

Village Hall and Lunch

Back at the Ludgershall village hall lunch had been prepared. An excellent buffet meal of meats, salads, baked potatoes and desserts. A big thank you to Celia, Shirley and Ann. After the meal, the prize giving.

Practice Shoot at Quainton 15th December 2019

Kingswood Gun Club Posted on 17th December 2019 by shooter17th December 2019

The weather for the shoot was lovely, slight breeze no rain and the sun shone. We did hear from Brians crew that it was still raining when they set up. Luckily at Quainton, we can walk on a firm solid surface. The picture I have chosen shows the substantial amount of standing water on the field.

Practice Shoot at Quainton 17th November 2019

Kingswood Gun Club Posted on 18th November 2019 by shooter29th March 2020

The rain held off, muddy underfoot, so all the shooting was from the old rail line. An interesting rabbit was set up on stand 5 which caused some dissent.

A big thank you to Tony and Ann for all the years of supplying us with refreshments and homemade cakes at the shoots. We always appreciate it, especially on the cold wet days. If anyone would like to take on this role or knows anyone who would. Then please let the committee know.

The rain kept away, and we had a varied shoot, with stand 1 being rather on the difficult side, and stand 5, the confidence builder.
